Senior Alexis Wines was able to have two special nights this season that celebrated her achievements. Alexis plays for the Lebanon girls’ basketball team and is the only senior for the 21-22 season, which meant she had her own senior night. She is also the only captain for the varsity basketball team, the third year in a row for Alexis.

“I love being team captain because I feel like I can represent and lead my team, and I love the responsibilities that come with it,” said senior Alexis Wines.

However, Alexis was aiming for a certain goal this year that she was able to reach on Thursday, January 20th at an away game against Seager. It is through her hard work and self-discipline that she was able to score 1000 points in her four years here at Lebanon high school.

“I’m trying to make the most of my last high school season by fine-tuning the little things and hopefully going on to win sectionals,” said Wines.

The Lady Tiger’s basketball team suffered an unfortunate loss against the Guerin Catholic golden eagles on Saturday, February 5th during the first round of sectionals, ending the season for the tigers.

“Of course, I was sad that we lost because I won’t ever get to play for Lebanon or with my current teammates again which sucks because we have all become so close, like a family,” said Alexis Wines.

However, the journey for Alexis doesn’t stop at high school basketball. She plans to sign to Hanover university to play basketball at the collegiate level.

Despite the sad end to this season, I am excited for the next chapter of my life at Hanover playing basketball. It is something I have dreamed of for as long as I can remember and a great sign that shows me all of my hard work has paid off,” said Wines
