The featured Club of the Month for the month of October is Sunshine Society. Sunshine Society is a female driven service organization that tackles projects inside and outside of Lebanon throughout the year.
Jenny Gaha, being an advisor of the club, is entering her third year with Sunshine Society.
“We are an organization that is committed to serving the community as a part of LHS,” said Gaha.
Senior Katlynn Coddington has been a member of Sunshine Society for four years now.
“This club allows me time to spend with my friends while making a difference in our school and community. I was in Sunbeam during my middle school years and wanted to continue serving my community through high school,” said Coddington.
Sunshine Society is involved with many different activities throughout the year, but something they have recently taken over is the 499 + 1 Trike Race.
Senior Destiny Serrano talked about how she feels helping organize the different service activities throughout the year.
“Running the Trike Race is a lot of fun and it is nice to see people appreciate the work we put into making the race fun to watch. We will also be doing a clothing drive for the first time this year. We are hoping to get a good reaction from the students and teachers,” said Serrano.
While the Sunshine Society is already very involved in our school, there are many ideas and projects the club would like to pursue in the near future.
“I would like to see our numbers grow and get more commitment from our girls. We are growing leaders and are hoping to continually improve our community each year,”
Sunshine Society meets on Wednesday during homeroom for any interested girls who are looking for a great service organization to get involved in.
