The Lebanon High School Swimming and Diving team participated in the Sagamore Conference and preliminaries meets this past weekend and had a tremendous result.
The boys’ team placed fourth in conference, with senior Carter Dial breaking the school record for 100m backstroke. The girls’ team placed second in the conference with freshman Lucy Gascho breaking two freshman records at the meet.
“I think this was the best meet for our team all season,” said junior Noelle Parks.
Parks was among some of the Lady Tigersharks who were top finishers at the meet, placing second in the 200m Freestyle.
“My goals were to finish in the top eight, receive a lower time and break the 200-freestyle record. I ended up finishing in the top eight and received a lower time. I still have a goal of dropping time for the rest of the season,” Parks said.
“We may not be the biggest team, but we have the biggest heart,” said freshman Chris Parker as he discussed how the team has done throughout the season.
LHS’s swimming and diving team has one of the hardest sectionals coming up in the next few weeks.
“My hope is that our team gives better effort and a lot of effort in sectionals this year,” Parker said.
Junior Lizzie Messenger has been diving for three months now and had a successful conference as she placed third at the meet.
“Diving helps in getting points for the team and I wanted to do really well in that,” Messenger said.
Congratulations to our boys’ and girls’ swimming and diving teams on an incredible conference and good luck to all of you in sectionals.
