Fantasy Football Hits the Ground Running

Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays are back and packed full of NFL Football. Most people like to watch the occasional game, but for some people there is actually something on the line. For those of you who do not know, there is a “little” something called Fantasy Football that runs from the beginning to the end of the NFL season.

“Drew Brees is my biggest contributor for my team. In week one I played who was supposed to be the best team in the league and pulled out a win. I predict that my team will go deep into the playoffs”, said freshman Garrett Harker.

Surprise Player Performance from Week One:

Kareem Hunt, Running Back, Kansas City Chiefs: Hunt played a near perfect game in the Thursday night game against the New England Patriots, who are supposed to be the best team in the NFL. In his first start, he exploded rushing for 148 yards and a touchdown, adding 98 yards and two additional touchdowns receiving. Hunt established himself as an impressive dual-threat running back and would be a smart pickup for any fantasy team.

Cooper Kupp, Wide-Receiver, Los Angeles Rams: This wide-out put together an
efficient game against the Indianapolis Colts, grabbing four balls for 76 yards and a touchdown. Kupp established himself as one of second-year quarterback Jared Goff’s most dependable receivers and will look to expand his stats against the Washington Redskins in weektwo.

Tarik Cohen, Running Back, Chicago Bears: The five foot six-inch-tall rookie showed grit in his first start in the Windy City. The back put together a performance of 113 all-purpose yards and a touchdown. A humanbowling ball on the field, Cohen runs hard and through tacklers up and down the field against a solid Atlanta Falcons defense, and could find himself getting a majority of the carries in Chicago’s week twomatchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Aside from the usual fantasy standouts, these are just a few possible sleepers that are available in most fantasy league’s and could be big contributors coming off of the waiver wire.

“Week one in my league, no one did very good. This week was a fluke for me, and my top three draft picks went for a combined 3 points. My key players for my team are Ezekiel Elliot, Rob Gronkowski, and Odell Beckham Jr. Needless to say, I am about to bounce back. Also, mark my words, the Patriots will finish the regular season 15 and 1 and win the Super bowl, and I will win another Fantasy Football Title as well”, said sophomore Carson Burtron.
