iHeartRadio Awards Recap

Just a week and a half ago the iHeartRadio Awards premiered on national television, exciting fans all over the world who waited to see if their favorite artist or group was victorious. This year, the awards were held at The Forum in Inglewood, California, with a variety of personalities and styles present. The two hosts for the 2018 awards were DJ Khaled and Hailey Baldwin.

At the awards this year, artists returned or came for the first time to claim their awards. Some available awards included Song of the Year, Female/Male Artist of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Duo/Group of the Year, Album of the Year, and the list goes on and on. Performers at the show were Cardi B and G-Eazy, Ed Sheeran, Camila Cabello and Young Thug, Maroon 5, Eminem and Kehlani, Bon Jovi, Charlie Puth, and N.E.R.D.

After the performances, the awards were handed out. Some of the most popular awards that premiered include: Shape of You by Ed Sheeran as Song of the Year, Taylor Swift as Female Artist of the Year, Ed Sheeran as Male Artist of the Year, Cardi B as Best New Artist and Maroon 5 as Best Duo/Group of the Year.

Following the award celebration, each winner gave a small speech where they recognized the people they would like to thank and gave motivation to their fans. Although most speeches seemed bland and boring, one speech that stood out to many people who watched the awards was Cardi B’s acceptance speech. She incorporated her bubbly, unique personality into the speech, causing it to catch the attention of fans and haters alike, resulting in a clip of it making its rounds on social medias like Twitter and Instagram.


This year, the awards were a success, with the attendance of new and old artists. Tune in for next year’s awards!
