Receiving your letter for the first time can be very exciting.  The Lebanon High School annual fall sports banquet was held on November 5ththis year.  Fall athletes can earn their letters and also be rewarded with certain awards during this banquet.  Many athletes this year received their first letter during the sports banquet.

Emma Patterson is a sophomore at LHS and recently received her first letter through cheerleading. She was excited about receiving her letter, because she has been waiting a while for it.  Patterson was surprised to get her letter due to her concussion at the beginning of the season.

“My favorite part about cheering Friday night games was getting to cheer with my best friend,” said Patterson.

Sophomore Belle Echeverria also received her first letter this year through cheerleading.  She was surprised her coach let her letter so early but knew she would get it at some point. Echeverria is cheering on Varsity again for basketball season and plans to cheer next year as well.

“Dressing up for the themes was definitely my favorite part. Painting our faces and having bows to match the theme was very fun,” said Echeverria.

Hayden Rice is a sophomore at LHS and recently lettered this year for Varsity football.  He plans to play football next year and cannot wait for next season.

“I was not sure I would receive it this year because I had been a little inconsistent in certain spots throughout the season, but I worked hard towards the end of the season to help my team as much as possible,”said Rice.

Drew Terrill also lettered in football this year.  Being a freshman, he was not sure he would letter going into the season, but thought he had a chance.  Terrill plans to play football for Lebanon all 4 years.

“I feel if I keep working, I could possibly letter all 4 years,” said Terrill.

Senior Henry Hutcheson received his first athletic letter this year in soccer.  He has also lettered previously 3 times in band.  He played soccer all 4 years of his high school career.

“I expected my letter this year because I kept track and made sure I was meeting all of the requirements to getting a letter,” said Hutcheson.

Many athletes strive for their letter each and every year for their sport(s) and when they earn them, it is a great feeling.  If you are an athlete and have not received a letter yet, keep working hard, keep pushing and you will earn your letter one day.
