Calling all LHS Royalty… DECA is hosting their fourth annual Mr. LHS that will be taking place on Saturday April 20, at 7 pm in Lebanon’s High School auditorium.
LHS’s DECA chapter is the face behind the humorous Mr. LHS competition. DECA is club that is offered to all LHS students who are interest and enjoy the business field. DECA is all about educating and exposing high school students to real life business situations and competitions that will prepare them for the real world.
DECA created the Mr. LHS competition to help improve their efforts as a chapter. Over the years, they have been able to help raise money, awareness, and involvement to their chapter. So what is the Mr. LHS Competition? Mr. LHS is a male beauty pageant in which ten junior and senior males compete to win the title being the king of LHS.
The contestants will have four different parts when competing. Contestants will have an opening dance which is choregraphed by Zoe Stratton. Next comes formal wear which includes a Q & A. There will be a talent portion, swim wear, and singing portion.
Five juniors and five seniors will battle for the three prestigious titles. Mr. Congeniality which is voted by the other Mr. LHS contestants and DECA members themselves, Mr. People’s Choice which is solely based off of the audience and their participation by donating money and their admission ticket for casting their votes. And of course, Mr. LHS which will be decided by the panel of judges. All money donated will go back to Lebanon’s DECA chapter to support their achievements and advancements within their club.
This year’s junior contestants are Drew Cosgray, Kye Zimmerman, Jarrett French, JR Brandhoefer and Ben Piper.
Junior Kye Zimmerman thinks he has a good shot at winning the Mr. LHS crown.
“I think I’m going to win Mr. LHS because I love me, you love me, and everyone loves me. And that is how I’m going to win the title,” said Zimmerman.
Junior Drew Cosgray plans to sweep away the competition with his strategies.
“I’m working with the best of the best. I’m putting all my blood and will into this competition. You know what they say… hard work makes the dream work,” said Cosgray.
This year’s senior contestants are Peter Hesslegrave, Jacob Tribby, Bryce Marshall and Jonathann Moore.
This is Senior Bryce Marshall second year in the Mr. LHS contest. He plans to win over the audience as well as the panel of judges with his creative talent this year.
“I felt like I was being over the top in every event so this year I’ll try to be more over the top in every category this year,” said Marshall.
Senior Jonathann Moore was selected to be a part of this year’s Mr. LHS contest.
“I’m looking forward to just having a good time with a bunch of friends. Being a part of Mr. LHS this year is awesome and the people just make it even better,” said Moore.
The creation of Mr. LHS has helped DECA significantly, going towards expenses from DECA competitions, etc. Without the support of Mr. LHS, sponsors, the audience and especially you, DECA would be unable to do the things they do best. DECA encourages everyone to come out and support the contestants in this year’s Mr. LHS contest which will be held on on Saturday April 20 at 7 pm in LHS’s auditorium. Tickets Hope to see you there!
