What is your full name?

Madison Denise Smith

What are your future plans? What are you majoring in, if you are planning on attending a post-secondary school?

Attending IUPUI, med school, then begin a surgical internship

What has made this year your best year?

I’m president of The Thirst Project for the second year in a row, we raised the money to build a well in Swaziland ($12,000), getting accepted into colleges, and senior perks.

If you could give any advice to the underclassmen, what would you say?

Get a high GPA freshman and Sophomore year, because if you start with a low GPA it’s really hard to get it up to where you want/need it.

Who has been your biggest influence at the school and why? (teacher, administrator, staff member)

Mr. O’Rourke has been my biggest influence, especially during my junior and senior year. He is the head of the Thirst Project group and he has been encouraging me to do my best, helping me think of and coordinate new ways to raise money, and helped me with college related things like applying, scholarships, grants, etc.

What class has been the most beneficial for you? Why?

Spanish because I use the skills and vocabulary outside of school, like when I’m at work, to communicate with people who only speak Spanish. I help coworkers communicate with Spanish speaking people as well.

What is something interesting about you that most people wouldn’t know about you?

I’m going to LA this summer to attend a leadership conference for the Thirst Project

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Finishing schooling and looking for a surgical internship
