What is your full name?
Destiny Dawn Gibson
What are your future plans? What are you majoring in, if you are planning on attending a post-secondary school?
I’m not planning on going to college right away, I plan to eventually get my own place and manage my health to the best of my ability.
What has made this year your best year?
This is my senior year and I actually came back after my health declined dramatically after my class graduated last year, so this year is very important to me and my family. I’ve worked extremely hard and knowing it is all finally going to pay off is rewarding beyond words.
If you could give any advice to the underclassmen, what would you say?
Don’t get behind if you can help it and do not slack off freshman year because it will set a bad path for the remaining 3 years. Also, DO NOT DROP OUT, it is not worth it and you’ve came this far and I promise it flies by, especially senior year. Lastly, join as many groups/clubs as you can, go to games, star in the musicals, because you will regret not being involved more once high school comes to an end.
Who has been your biggest influence at the school and why?
Mr. VanTilburg and Mr. Wright have been my biggest influences because they both understand a little more in depth what I go through and have to overcome on a daily basis and they continue to support and push me. They also remind who I am and why I’m here doing what I’m doing when I want to give up.
What is something interesting about you that most people wouldn’t know about you?
I have Cystic Fibrosis (CF), which is a lung and liver disease and a few other things that make my health extremely critical and affects me everyday. Many people acknowledge that I miss an abundant amount of days but not many know the reason.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I hope to be married, have a family, and a house by then. I hope to have a steady job that I’m happy at and where my role is important and valued.
