The weather is changing and getting colder, which means that the regular season for all Fall Sports teams is coming to an end. With that being said, some of Lebanon’s fall teams have concluded their 2019 campaign.
The boys’ and girls’ soccer teams both reached the sectional title game but unfortunately, they came up short. The girls’ soccer team played their best game of the year but lost in a close game with Brebeuf 4-1. The boys’ also lost a heartbreaker to one of the best teams in the state, Brebeuf, with a score of 1-0.
“With the number of seniors that we lost from the previous year I was really proud of the way everyone stepped up this year and played their role,”said sophomore Riley Jump.
“I was extremely impressed with our team this year because everyone was willing to put in the extra work to become a great team. My favorite part about playing for Lebanon was seeing the progress of the program year after year,”said senior Alex VanZandt.
The boys’ tennis team started out the sectional defeating Rossville 5-0 placing them in the sectional championship against the Zionsville Eagles. They were then defeated by a score of 5-0 in the sectional title match on Friday October 4th.
“My favorite part about playing Tennis at Lebanon is being able to be on the same team with all of my friends that I have known for so long,”saidsenior Michael Wright.
The varsity girls’ golf season has also come to an end on a loss in the regional. They placed second at sectionals sending them to the regional match where their season would conclude.
“I thought our team improved from last year to this year because we won conference this year and we all have gotten better from the year before,” said sophomore Clara McQueen.
Lebanon Tigers volleyball had their sectional pairing on Sunday, October 6th. They were paired with the winner of Danville and Greencastle. With that being said, they ended their regular season on a three-game win streak.
“We had a tough start to our season but we have come together as a team towards the end of the regular season and we are very prepared for our sectional,”said senior Gabby Brewer.
Tiger football had their sectional drawing party on Sunday, October 13th. They received the bye and will play Western in the sectional semifinal on November 1st. The last regular season game is against Western Boone this Friday October 18th.
“The best part about playing football at Lebanon is seeing my friends every day at practice. That is because they are so funny and we work together well,”said senior Jarrett French.
Cheerleading has focused on improvement the entire season and they feel they have been improving throughout the regular season.
“I am very impressed with how hard we have worked as a team at practice this year and we push ourselves to get better every day,” said sophomore cheerleader Sydnie Stevenson.
The boys’ cross-country team just became the first team in Lebanon history to advance to the regional. While the girls’ cross-country only had four girls qualify for the IHSAA regional. Top finishers were Zach West placing 10thand Murphy Adams placing second.
“My team has impressed me this year just because of how close we have gotten as a team. We work so well together and that allows us to do well at meets,” said sophomore Abagail Coyle.
“I am very excited for the future of this team because we have such a strong underclass coming through the program,” said junior Sriram Srinivasan.
