Over the last couple of weeks people across the United States have been raving about the new ability to stream Disney throwbacks. The new American streaming service, Disney Plus, launched on November 12, 2019. The service offers content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and more. As of November 13, 2019, there were over ten million users subscribed to the network.
Other competitors on the market include streaming networks like Netflix and Hulu. These companies offer a similar service with different types of shows and movies.
Senior Macy Kenna shared that she enjoys the convenience of Disney Plus, but also prefers another streaming site for different options.
“I like Disney plus because it has all of my favorite Disney shows and movies all in one place and I do not have to pay for different accounts to get the shows and movies I want. I still subscribe to Netflix because it has more of a variety of different genres,” said Kenna.
Sophomore Will Swartz is pleased with Disney plus and enjoys the opportunity to watch old shows that he missed watching, but also thinks other services have better variety.
“Disney plus allows me to watch old Disney shows that are no longer, but I prefer Hulu or Netflix because there is a wider variety of options. Hulu also keeps up to date with current shows by putting them on the app the day after a new episode is released,” said Swartz.
Kaitlyn Stoops enjoys reminiscing her childhood by rewatching the Disney shows.
“I love Disney Plus because I get easy access to all of the shows and movies I would watch growing up. It is really nice to be able to rewatch them and see if they are as good as I remember them being,” said Stoops.
