As seasons change once again, Lebanon High School prepares for its 2020 spring sports season in various ways.  For starters, LHS will be providing a Boys Baseball team this spring.

The future Boys’ Baseball team for LHS is already in the weights room working out two times a week, each session for two hours, due to this being an IHSAA rule.  Any player that intends to try-out this spring for the team is welcome to the pre-season workouts as long as they do not participate in a winter sport.

Boys’ Baseball head coach, Rick Cosgray, is pleased to announce that the team will be expecting five returning seniors this season: Drew Cosgray, Issac McClaine, Jarrett French, Michael Reese and Nick Nies.

“Michael, Drew, Nick and Jarrett are three- or four-year letter winners and we expect them to be great leaders and to perform at a high level.  Garrett Harker and Matthew Coddington return as juniors with varsity experience. Garrett is one of the top ranked juniors in the state,”said Coach Cosgray.

Coach Cosgray and the players all have both short-term and long-term goals for this season.

“Our long-term goals would be to win conference, sectionals and advance deep into the tournament.  The day to day goals will be to have great focus, take care of the small details and work well as a team, if that happens then they will have an opportunity to achieve their long-term goals,”said Coach Cosgray.

Senior Michael Reese agrees with Coach Cosgray in the goal perspective on planning to win conference and later win the sectional championship.  With being a senior, he will be a leader for the team and be highly looked upon this season from his younger teammates.

“It is memorable for me because it is my last year to play with all of my high school friends that I have played with my whole life.  I plan on making sure everyone does the little things right so they do not hurt us in the long run,” said Reese.

Junior Garrett Harker believes the team has a different mindset for this year because they have the potential to do great things this season with the talent they are provided. The team has many older players returning that have lots of experience.  In addition, they have a lot of younger players coming in with lots of talent that should help a lot during the season.

“Our goals this year is to win a sectional title since most of us have lots of family members and friends that won the title back in 2014.  We just need to push during off-season and remember the hard work will pay off in the end,” said Harker.

LHS’ Boys Baseball team is already working hard in the weight room and are in the right mindset with the intentions of bringing home those conference and sectional titles.  Do not forget, any student is welcome to join open gym as long as they are not in a winter sport.
