On February 15, 2020 Lebanon Boys Wrestling competed at Semi-State in New Castle, Indiana. LHS Boys Wresting proudly sent Senior Camren Toole, Senior Easton Williamson, Freshman Ethan Coffman, Junior Eli Fox and Freshman Makai Smith to represent Lebanon at Semi-State in hopes of advancing to State.
The IHSAA State Tournament begins on Friday, February 21, 2020 with only one match that automatically eliminates eight wrestlers out of the 16 totals in each weight division. Those that win their first match are guaranteed eighth place and are allowed to continue to compete on Saturday, February 22, 2020.
As a result of Semi-State, Camren Toole was the only wrestler to qualify for the IHSAA State Tournament. He competed Friday, February 21, 2020 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Toole competed in the 126 lbs. division at both Semi-State and State.
Sadly, Toole lost his first match on Friday, causing him to be part of the eight eliminated in each division and not allowing him to compete on Saturday. However, Toole has had an outstanding four-year career in boys wrestling that no one will ever be able to take from him.
“It was an exhilarating experience to compete at state in front of all the people with it being my first time there. I feel like I did pretty well this season, however I would have certainly liked to get a state medal,”said Toole.
Over his years competing, Toole has accomplished many awards like First Team All-Sagamore Conference, Sectional Champion, Regional Champion, Semi-State Qualifier and State Qualifier. In addition, Toole was awarded with the LHS Vic Jones Most Valuable Wrestler award.
Toole also excels in school as he has received Academic All-State honors, remained a scholar athlete all four years of high school and is academically ranked number one in his senior class, holding a 4.4. grade point average (GPA).
