In 49 other states, it is just basketball, but in Indiana, it just means something different. The Road to Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis starts with sectionals and leads ultimately to the state championship.

Senior Kobe Ottinger said, “It would be amazing to win a sectional in my last season here. We have had a successful season and I think we have what it takes to win a sectional. We have been close in every sectional during my career, and I really do think this team can do it”

Sectional #27 includes Indianapolis Shortridge, Brebeuf Jesuit, Lebanon, Christel House, Indianapolis Bishop Chatard, and Guerin Catholic.

Junior Kayden Sloggett said, “Guerin Catholic won our sectional last year and made it all the way to semi-state last year. They had three amazing seniors though that are not on the team this year. We played Guerin earlier in the year and lost, but I feel like we beat ourselves.”

Lebanon is heading into the sectional with a first-round bye and will play the winner of Indianapolis Shortridge and Brebeuf Jesuit. On the bottom half of the sectional, Christel House will play Indianapolis Bishop Chatard while Guerin Catholic will await the winner of that game. The favorites to win the sectional are Brebeuf Jesuit, Lebanon, and Indianapolis Bishop Chatard.

Junior Korbyn Sloggett said, “We haven’t played Brebeuf this year, but we have played Guerin. We lost to them by nine points while my brother and I only scored a combined nine points. We all could have played a lot better and we can beat Guerin in my opinion.”
