MLB Season Update

May 16, 2022
After around 30 games into the 2022 MLB season, we can see which teams are going to truly compete for a World Series. It also gives us an idea of which teams are rebuilding, and which teams are on the edge of being contenders.
As of right now, the New York Yankees hold the best record in the league at 20-8. They are in first place of the American League East, followed by the Tampa Bay Rays, and Toronto Blue Jays.
“I’m not surprised that the Yankees are off to a hot start. They have one of the best teams in the league for sure.” said senior Andrew Phelps.
In the American League Central, the Minnesota Twins lead the division with a record of 18-11. They are followed by the Cleveland Guardians, and Chicago White Sox.
To finish out the AL, the Angels are on top of the American League West with a record of 20-11. Just behind the Angels in the standings are the Houston Astros with a record of 18-11.
“I am actually shocked that the Angels are in first place of the AL West. I knew they had a good team, but I definitely didn’t expect to see them in first.” said junior Cayman Huntsman.
In the National League, the best team has been the Los Angeles Dodgers from the West division. They hold a record of 19-8. The NL West is one of the stronger divisions in the league with not a single team under .500.
The worst team in the league is currently the Cincinnati Reds. They have a horrid record of 6-23. They have the highest team earned run average in the league.
“The Reds have been awful this season. It’s really sad to see what is going on with that organization.” said senior Alex Juarez.
The New York Mets are in firm hold of the top spot in the National League East, holding a record of 20-10. They are followed by the Atlanta Braves, and Philadelphia Phillies.
In the NL Central, the Milwaukee Brewers currently are in the top spot with a record of 19-11. They are followed by the St. Louis Cardinals with a record of 16-12.
