Summer is around the corner as well as the College World Series. The world series is played in Omaha, Nebraska at TD Ameritrade stadium. Teams will play in regional tournament to see who makes it the World Series. There are sixteen regional tournaments consisting of four teams each.
“What I like is that everyone has a chance to make it, it’s fun to see what underdogs make a push,” said junior Cannon Morton.
There are many teams that are favored this year but one stands out from the rest. Tennessee Volunteers have been making a tear this year. They currently have a record of 45-7 with only four games remaining in the season. The Vols have a .305 team batting average, having outscored their opponents this year 467-140. They have had a tremendous year and are searching for that first national championship.
“Being a Tennessee fan myself, this year has been very fun to watch. They made the tournament last year but unfortunately went 0-2 so I’m hoping for better results this year,” said junior Aiden Frost.
The Oregon State Beavers have also been having a very successful season, boasting a 40-11 record. The Beavers are coming in as a hot favorite to win the College World Series. They have a team batting average of .295 and have outscored their opponents 388-198. As of recent the Beavers have been successful in their baseball program. They produced a number one overall draft pick in the MLB in Adley Rutschman.
“This tournament will be interesting as there are a lot of new teams in the tops of the rankings this year. It’s always fun to watch new teams compete,” said freshman Joel Acton.
