NFL Week 1

September 16, 2022
Week one of the NFL season was an exciting one. The season got kicked off on Thursday night with a matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and the Buffalo Bills. This heavyweight bout featured two explosive offenses, along with two very good defenses. The Bills looked strong in this matchup, winning 31-10 in a game that was dominated in the second half.
“I thought Josh Allen looked good. He threw the ball well.” Said sophomore Dax Frost.
The hometown Indianapolis Colts looked to start off the season on the right foot Sunday when they matched up against the Houston Texans. The Colts found themselves down by 17 points going into the fourth quarter. They would end up fighting all the way back to tie the game, sending it to overtime. The game would end in a tie, resulting in an anti-climactic start to the season.
“I was disappointed in the Colts’ performance this week. I’m glad they fought all the way back, but they shouldn’t have been in that situation in the first place. The Texans are a team that we need to beat.” Said senior Caleb Linton.
In other action on Sunday, the New York Giants defeated the Tennessee Titans by a score of 21-20. This came as a shock to most people, as the Titans were favored to win this game. The Giants’ running back Saquon Barkley made his return from injury with a strong performance in Week 1.
“I was glad to see Saquon back running the ball. I felt bad for him with all of the injuries he’s had to deal with so far in his career.” Said sophomore Taig Williamson.
Tom Brady made his return Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys. Brady had a strong showing, leading the Buccaneers to a 19-3 victory.
“I thought he looked good. I hope he has a good season since we don’t know how much more he’s got left in the tank.” Said Linton.
