2022 Football Sectional Preview

September 29, 2022
After a 3-2 start to the season, the Tiger football team looks ahead to not only the rest of the regular season, but also to the postseason. The first step of the postseason is sectionals. This year’s sectional features some new teams.
One of the new teams in Lebanon’s sectional this year is Mooresville. The Tigers are familiar with playing Mooresville as they have matched up against them in previous years during the regular season. The Pioneers are a very tough opponent and have started the year off 5-0.
“Mooresville is always good. They have so much talent and are very well coached.” Said sophomore Dax Frost.
Another team that the Tigers know all too well is Roncalli. The Royals have started the year off at 5-0 and always seem to have a very tough team. The Tigers have been on the wrong end of some sectional games against Roncalli in the past.
“We are very familiar with them. We know what they like to do and we know that they are a good team.” Said senior Carson Toole.
Brebeuf has also joined the mix this year. They are off to a 3-1 start to the season and have a win against Tri-West. The Tigers scrimmaged the Braves in the preseason and had relative success.
“Brebeuf is always solid. It’s definitely helpful that we are relatively familiar with them.” Said Toole.
The rest of the sectional consists of Indianapolis Crispus Attucks, Indianapolis George Washington, Indianapolis Shortridge, and Northview. The Tigers look to win their first sectional since 1997.
“Our goal is to do something special this year. We’ve worked hard up until this point and we are going to prepare for whoever we play.” Said Frost.
