Cross Country Team Makes History

October 7, 2022
For the first time in program history, both cross country teams won the conference title. Both the boys and girls have found success throughout this season. The girls team placed first in five meets this season and the boys have placed first six times.
“This year as a whole we have all worked very hard.” Said senior captain Aiden Frost. “Starting in June, we were running and working out with one goal in mind: winning.”
When asked about the team’s success this season, many of the runners immediately looked to their coaches, Shelley and Dale West.
“The success in conference is a direct result of that time put in and a result of the dedication by the coaches, Dale and Shelley.” Said Frost.
Along with great coaching, the team’s chemistry this year has been a big part in their success.
“My favorite thing about cross country is the team dynamic and the coaches. Dale and Shelley have pushed us all year to reach our potential and I think that’s why we have had success.” Said senior Kloē Coyle.
Winning conference is no easy task. It takes a team effort to be able to have that much success throughout the season.
“The best part about winning conference is that we won as a team not as individuals. It was an awesome feeling to finally win it. All of us were right where we were supposed to be and we got the job done.” Said senior Beau Burgin.
The seniors have had a huge impact on the team’s success this year. Their leadership qualities have been largely appreciated by their underclass teammates.
“The seniors helped motivate me and push me to my full potential. I feel like I wouldn’t be where I’m at right now without their support.” Said freshman standout Penny Lamerson.
