This school year, LCSC has been introduced to many new coaches throughout the corporation, especially at the high school level. A surplus of coaches have been hired in the basketball, baseball, soccer, and football programs. The Pennant decided to interview two new coaches at the school this year, Aaron Vaughn and Josh Yoder.
Aaron Vaughn was hired as the new head coach for the Girl’s Basketball program. The season is still very early on with practice not officially starting yet. There has been summer training, and we were able to ask him about that.
“So far I love the connections and interactions with the players”.
He feels great about his group, and stated they were hungry, talented, and just good people. He explained how leading a basketball program was always a dream of his, and he’s had the majority of his players in class in previous years so his relationship with them is already stronger than most new coaches.
Along with being the new head coach, Vaughn also hired an entirely new coaching staff behind him.
“My goal for the staff was to find coaches from different viewpoints that could challenge my blind spots.”
He hopes to build a strong culture with the right foundation. “To me, it’s more than just winning games.” We asked him what he wants people to look back on in 10 years about his coaching; “I want people to look back and say he cared. That I challenged people. I also wouldn’t mind them inviting me to their weddings!”
The Lady Tigers open their season November 5th versus Lafayette Jefferson.
