Last week officially started football season for Lebanon High School. Football season is what a lot of students look forward too. It is a great way to get students out and connected to the school. There are many different themes, games, and fun memories made on Friday nights. The football team has been working hard all summer, and coming to the student section is our way to show them our appreciation.
“R-O-L-L roll tigers roll.” Tanya Banks, Junior, Varsity Cheerleader
There are many fun ways to cheer on our team, one way is by making chants. There are many chants that have been at our school for decades. This is a fun tradition we do at our school, and it gets the parents and players excited for their game. Being new to high school can be very scary, but coming out to the football games can introduce you to new friends, and you can make new memories. This helps the students get out of their comfort zone and cheer on their school. Marli McConnell gave some advice for the freshman in the student section.
“You might feel stupid but if you cheer with everyone it’ll be fun.”- Marli McConnell 11th grade
A lot of our staff comes to our games, and they even get excited by our student section. A lot of our teachers and students said that they were impressed by our last game and the number of students that showed up. We got a lot of compliments on how loud we were and how they have not seen us this excited for a game in years. The teachers here at LHS are excited to see the future and proud of our students encouraging each other.
“The first game was rocking, and I even said good job to the students.”- Mr. Tucker
Most students look forward to dressing up for the games with their friends and having funny outfits for the game. This tradition of dressing up at football games has been at our school for decades. There is multiple dress up themes, including new ones this year, such as toga and fight night. Some of our students’ favorites is USA night, jersey night, and our homecoming night. This brings our students together and they can have fun with dressing up as the theme.
“My favorite theme is USA night because it’s fun to see all of the flags people bring.”- Mya Nelson, Sophomore
