Anthony Richardson started off Week 4 in the Colts matchup versus the Steelers in his normal fashion. Risky plays, flashy passes, high-octane runs, and everything else you could expect from the raw multi-talented young Quarterback from Florida. During the Colts second drive of the game, Richardson was marching his team down the field, already leading 7-0. He ran up the middle and took a huge hit from Steelers starting safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, and immediately grabbed his hip in pain. He withered around on the field for a couple of minutes and was able to jog off on his own. The Colts won the game 27-24, but at the cost of their franchise QB’s health. After the game, he felt optimistic, saying he felt “pretty good and I hope to play next week”.
It was determined the next day that Richardson suffered a hip pointer, which is more known as a bruise of the hip bone. It enlisted Richardson as day-to-day, and he practiced in limited fashion all of the next week. On the day of the Colts Week 5 game versus the Jaguars, Richardson went through his normal pregame routine, and seemed to move very well. Despite his encouraging performance in pregame, it was determined he should miss Week 5 to be safe. This is AR’s third injury in his young career, as he only played 4 games in his rookie year, suffering a concussion in Week 2 and a season-ending shoulder injury in Week 5. Colts Head Coach Shane Steichen acknowledges this, and the team is working towards finding game plans to keep Richardson healthy. Despite the Colts close loss to Jacksonville, all signs point to AR being back stronger than ever versus Tennessee in Week 6.
