Our very own, Lebanon High School Senior, Lauren Argotte, got 6th place at the national FFA convention in Indianapolis. She won in Agriscience which her research was about the study of interaction between humans, agricultural industry, and natural resources.
“Presenting my research in front of other FFA members, researchers, and industry professionals was amazing, and I’m forever grateful for that opportunity,” says Lauren.
This national recognition is the culmination of years of dedication. In fact, this isn’t the first time Lauren has been to the national convention. She’s been there two other times, and she has always come back with a medal. “About 70,000 FFA members filled the streets of Indy. These members came from all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands,” says Lauren.
Lauren has worked hard for these wins and takes a long time to prepare for these contests. Her Agriscience project took a whole year of rigorous work; she had to work on things that included a 20+ page report, a survey that included 245 responses from all over the nation, and for state convention she needed to make a poster to be judged.
“To prepare, I devote a lot of time to developing new ideas and ways to improve my research. I also reflect on previous research done and find ways to take a deeper dive into the agriculture industry,” says Lauren.
Through all of these years of competing, her favorite part of FFA is the organization itself. Lauren has been grateful for FFA over the years and the friendships she’s built. She’s grown over the years through FFA with her friends from Lebanon and all over the country.
“FFA truly offers something for everyone, allowing individuals to discover their unique interests,” said Lauren.
