With the upcoming winter months comes DECA season. DECA, Distributive Education Clubs of America, is a nonprofit organization that prepares students for careers in business and leadership. With the help of our advisors, Jason Joris and Tyler Damm, students are able to indulge into a specific business career to develop a better understanding.
DECA districts is the first competition for all students. To advance at districts, you must have a 50% or higher on your exam and/or place top 11 of your category’s role play. Here at Lebanon, DECA exams begin on December 10th and end December 11th. There are two time slots per each day which are, 6:30-7:45 AM and 3:00-4:15 PM. Students have a choice on which time works best for them.
Exams are a stressful test because of the percent needed to advance. Practice is the best way to form a better understanding of our category. A solid way to study is by using the practice exams either on Canvas or on the Deca.org website. Answering 25 questions each day, for 5 days a week, allows for you to finish one whole exam. Repeating the action of answering questions daily, allows your mind to constantly be thinking about your category.
Another way to study for exams is to work with a friend. Finding someone in the same category and working on practice exams will create a fun environment for studying. Going back and forth to ask/ answer questions increase the focus on exam practice questions.
Exams are coming up for all DECA members and its time to crunch on studying!
