Another year, another disappointing season for the Indianapolis Colts.
The team recently finished their season 8-9 and fell short of the playoffs, similar to the 2021 and 2023 seasons. Fans are upset as this is the team’s fourth year straight missing the playoffs, yet little personnel changes have been made. Colts owner Jim Irsay announced both head coach Shane Steichen and general manager Chris Ballard are returning for the 2025-26 season.
Fortunately one change was made, or so fans thought. Fans rejoiced after the firing of defensive coordinator Gus Bradley, who’s defense ranked 29th in yards allowed, however, this happiness quickly came to an end. In one of the most puzzling moves of the offseason, the Colts announced that former Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator, Lou Anarumo, will be taking over for Bradley this season. Many fans have described the hiring as a downgrade from an already terrible coach.
Meanwhile on the offensive side of the ball, the team seems to have it all except for a couple positions. Wide receivers Josh Downs and Alec Pierce had breakout years, while other receiver Michael Pittman Jr. and running back Jonathan Taylor continued to shine. The offensive line had it’s struggles, but played the majority of the season with two or more of them hurt. The biggest question marks come at the tight end and quarterback positions, which underperformed throughout the entire season. Most fans want to bring in competition for young quarterback Anthony Richardson, in hopes it will help his development. The biggest problem with Richardson is likely his health. In just two years in the NFL, he’s experienced multiple injuries. Meanwhile, many fans hope GM Ballard doesn’t screw up again, and miss out on a generational tight end prospect in the first round of the upcoming draft.
