After just about one year of silence, the sagamore conference has ventured out once again. In a move that is sending ripples through Indiana high school athletics, The sagamore conference will now welcome two new schools to compete in 2026. The new teams that are soon to be brought in are Terre Haute North and Terre Haute South high school, bringing our total number of conference teams to an even six. This announcement marks a new chapter for both programs, bringing fresh rivalries and renewed competition to the forefront.
This was not exactly Lebanon’s first plan when considering their options for the upcoming year, as rumors were around claiming that LHS athletics were fiddling with the idea of joining the Mid-State conference. This never ended up working out, though. On the other hand, the Sagamore Conference—on its last limb in its efforts of becoming a full, strong, conference—finalized their decision this spring, now welcoming two schools with rich athletic traditions and deep-rooted pride to restore the broken conference back into the competitive environment that it once was.
“This is about growth and opportunity,” said football head coach Josh Yoder. “Both schools bring strong programs, and this elevation in competition is going to be the key to our teams here at Lebanon to improve.”
As the Patriots and Braves prepare for their Sagamore debut, anticipation is already building for matchups with the likes of Lebanon and Danville. Now, it’s time to circle your calendars, as 2026 is shaping up to be one for the books.
