Over the last few months there has been a lot of development in the government as a whole. One addition to this is the Department of Government Efficiency. This department derives from the recent Trump administration involving Elon Musk, that is to manage federal spending and to overall maximize government productivity. According to Brookings.edu, there have been some issues with D.O.G.E. due to a cut in employment within the government, disruption in the distribution of financial aid (Social Security and Veterans’ benefits). Although it has some setbacks some argue there is still a beneficial purpose to this system.
“According to the Wall Street Journal (predominantly known as a moderate republican news site) as of April 11th we have seen the Trump administration under what is supposed leadership of D.O.G.E. –I should say the financial leadership– has actually not cut costs but has spent more. More specifically hundred fifty-four billion more than the Biden administration in the first eighty days,” responded Mr. DeBard, LHS teacher.
There is still a lot of information coming out about D.O.G.E. whether it be positive or negative, it still is a new system to the government that is being learnt about. It is best to keep informed of this matter and new information that may be let out about the D.O.G.E., whether it is needed or not is up for debate.
