It was an electrifying start to the 2025 NFL season as the Indianapolis Colts delivered a commanding statement victory over the Miami Dolphins, defeating them 33–8 in a performance that reignited the spirit of Colts Nation, including many students and faculty here at Lebanon High School.
Quarterback Daniel Jones rewrote the history books in his dazzling debut, completing 22 of 29 passes for 272 yards and one passing touchdown, while also rushing in for two more. With a nearly flawless outing, Jones led the Colts to score on every single possession, an NFL rarity that has not been done since 1978. Meanwhile, first round rookie tight end Tyler Warren also had a promising outing, reeling in 7 catches for 76 yards. On the other side of the ball, the Colts’ defense overwhelmed the Dolphins, forcing several turnovers, including two interceptions and a fumble recovery, that tilted the field in Indianapolis’ favor.
This big win currently puts the Colts atop all other teams in the AFC South, as only one division rival (the Jacksonville Jaguars) was able to secure a week one win as well.
For Lebanon senior and lifelong Colt’s fan Braden Newsom, attending the game was a jaw dropping experience. “To be honest, my expectations were not high for this game, or for the season in general. This was an awesome game though; I definitely have more faith in Danny Dimes now moving forward. Go Colts.”
As the Colts ride this high into Week 2, they face a tough Denver Broncos team that also brought home a W in week one against the Tennessee Titans. The game will be at Lucas Oil Stadium on September 14th, so make sure to tune in to watch what should be a great game as long as the Colts stay on the gas peddle.
