The Colts were handed there first loss of the season, falling short to the Los Angeles Rams 27-20 this past Sunday. A couple of costly penalties and mental mistakes led to a total of 14 points taken off the board. Wide receiver Adonai Mitchell has been the center of attention after he fumbled the ball out of the back of the end zone on what would have been a touchdown, giving the Colts the lead nearing the end of the 3rd quarter. Additionally, he had a costly holding penalty on what would have been a long touchdown for Jonathan Taylor late in the game.
The defense was missing a key piece of their secondary in veteran Kenny Moore. This led to them giving up over 375 yards through the air, which is the most they have given up by a wide margin. In the final minutes of the game, they surrendered an 88-yard touchdown to Tutu Atwell, which gave the Rams the lead and left the Colts needing to put together a drive to tie the game. Unfortunately, Jones threw an interception attempting a pass downfield which ultimately sealed the game.
Now the Colts have a chance to rebound next week at home in Lucas Oil against the Las Vegas Raiders at 1:00 pm eastern time. The Colts offense has a favorable matchup going against a weak secondary, while the defense will have their hands full with rookie running back sensation Ashton Jeanty. Will Daniel Jones be able to lead the Colts back on track?
