The January return from winter breaks has been slow for many Lebanon students. A lot of Seniors are fighting severe cases of senioritis, while the grind is back on for Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshmen. Despite the tough return to school, the upcoming months of February, March, and April have exciting events planned.
Starting in the sporting world of LHS, sectionals for wrestling, swimming, and basketball are all happening. The boys wrestling team recently finished their sectionals, while the girls’ basketball sectionals continue February 2nd at Cascade. Boys’ and girls’ swimming, as well as boys’ basketball, will take place later in February.
Also happening in February, is the Mr. LHS competition, which will be held on February 1st. The competition is a comedic male pageant with five Juniors and five Seniors competing for the title of Mr. LHS. The Junior competitors consist of Joe Susong, Bryce Nelson, Ozzy Heath, Jack Ferrell, and Cade Klingler, while the Senior competitors are Grayson Goff, Sam Kyker, Craig Reynolds, Mason Crew, and Cade Spanhook.
Mr. LHS is organized by the LHS Deca club and all the proceeds go to the funding of their state competitions. Deca is expecting a record number of 39 students attending state competitions this year. The competitions will take place at the beginning of April.
In addition to Deca’s state, the performing arts squads have a few events planned in spring. The spring play was revealed to be Murder on the Orient Express, and the Show Choir is working on their spring performance put together by Senior Amelia Schoeff.
Although it’s been a slow return to school, there’s plenty of exciting events to look forward to. Be sure to attend as many as you can and support our Lebanon Tigers!
