For the longest time, Bullying has been an issue in schools worldwide. Bullying is spread by school students taking their negativity out on others around them in school. When bullying is happening it can occur time and time again, having students follow their friends which now is being spread online more often. Students that experience bullying are affected by this that can lead to problems like being social. Mental health, and their own physical well-being.
“Over my career as a whole, I feel the reports of such have increased especially with social media, so oftentimes reports I receive come in the form of, maybe not being said to a student face-to-face, but being done or said over social media platforms,” stated Megan Lewis, LHS counselor.
If students in Lebanon High School are looking for help and are dealing with bullying, the best way to express your issue is to the staff, or if you are dealing with bullying or have seen it and don’t wanna be known, please refer to the Tipline. Your Tipline is located on the LHS Ipad apps. Other ways students are affected can be from being on sports teams; much like being in a regular class, bullying another peer isn’t tolerated.
“This is extracurricular. A lot of times you are in my class because it’s a requirement and I have to take you. With coaching this is a privilege to be on this team, and if you are going to conduct yourself that way, that privilege should be taken,” said Mr. DeBard, U.S history teacher.
Bullying isn’t something that may not go away for good, but if we try to hold ourselves to the standard of how to be treated, we may help the problem. Bullying affects anyone no matter how small it may be and just helping someone if you notice them being bullied, like through Tipline or talking to a staff member, you could be helping someone else’s life.
