In a dangerous popular rise, vaping has been in issue over the years due to popularity on social media. This harmful nicotine addiction has spread to younger generations which are being brought into school. Over the development of this time, schools have implemented more ways to prevent vaping in schools, by establishing vape detectors in the bathrooms inside the school.
“I think it can be harmful? Yes. I think that they’ve not been around long enough to show all of the different side effects that could be caused, or could be, you know, happen due to the vaping itself. That’s scary in itself not knowing what they can do to our bodies, or how it can affect us.” replied Kristen Scott, LHS assistant principal.
Vaping can have a lasting effect on someone, especially for a student who is still in highschool. The effects of vaping can be having issues breathing, a growth in bacteria and viruses within the body. The risk for vaping isn’t worth it, if you get caught vaping in school and if you are underage you can be subjected to a multitude of consequences like from having a simple suspension but even as far as expulsion
Quote- “Because especially from an athlete, it’s definitely harmful, especially from a young age it can damage whatever inside your lungs. It’s annoying honestly, like I get that they’re addicted, I get it, but if you’re that addicted then don’t come to school.” Stated Jade Mount, LHS student.
Therefore, if you are considering vaping at a young age, it is not recommended. Having just one can change your life and cause you to lose things if you continue down that path. Vaping is addictive and harmful for all, and most for young teenagers that are in school. If you have a problem or want to quit, please seek out a nicotine replacement therapist to help find alternatives for this addiction that you are battling.
