In the holiday season, it is very common to go shopping for loved ones, yourself, and even your pets. It happens every year after Thanksgiving, Black Friday shopping happens and all the festive deals come out. Although this may seem like an appreciable time, it often overshadows the true meaning of the holidays, with stores having deals posted everywhere to entice the shopper to shop at their store. Nowadays, the family aspect of the holidays can almost be lost or forgotten by the appetite of shopping for Black Friday deals.
“I get too distracted seeing that I have a bunch of sales and I’ll like stock up and then spend way too much –everything is basically just “come in, buy all of this, look at all of our sales” instead here is family, maybe you can get this for them,” stated Chiara Vitale, LHS student.
Some do believe it can be over commercialized for the public by over overshadowing spending time with your family just to resort to shopping. But, even though it has its negatives, it can also be a very helpful time of the year for people on a budget for the holidays. Having Black Friday is an amazing opportunity to go shopping for deals with smaller prices being more accommodating for your price range.
“I think it actually helps, you can use the sales to be able to give, and shop in time for Christmas and be able to think of other people because when you see things, you buy things that remind you of the people.” replied Jusoteme Udu.
There may be mixed opinions, but it’s best to focus on enjoying the holidays, so whether it’s spending or saving, enjoy this lovely season with your friends and family. This is the season to try and remember to think about others, or even have a self-care moment, but make sure to always consider a budget check so you aren’t regretting these choices in the near future.
