With winter sports beginning to wrap up here at Lebanon, the focus is quickly shifting toward spring athletics, especially track and field. As basketball season and other winter programs come to a close, many athletes are beginning to funnel into the track program as they prepare for the spring season ahead. The added numbers and energy are helping bring the juice to the team as athletes settle into early practices and get ready for competition.
The Tigers will open their season on Tuesday, March 17 at home against Hamilton Heights. With honorable competition quickly approaching, athletes and coaches are continuing to prepare and build momentum in hopes of starting the season strong in front of a home crowd.
Senior Penny Lamerson will be one of the leaders to watch this year. When asked how she is feeling heading into her senior season, Lamerson acknowledged that Lebanon sometimes faces a unique challenge but still believes strongly in the team. “Sometimes it can be hard to compete with schools that have indoor seasons, but I’m still confident in myself and my teammates,” she said. Lamerson has been a standout performer throughout her high school career, competing in a variety of distance events while also holding several Lebanon track records. As she enters her final season, she will one of the many strong assets that represent the Tigers both on and off the track.
With experienced athletes returning and new competitors joining the roster, Lebanon is hoping the team can hit the ground running and start the season strong when they host Hamilton Heights next Tuesday
